Congratulations to former Glenbrook South coach Kurt Hasenstein, who has been inducted into the Illinois Track & Cross Country Coaches Association (ITCCCA) Hall of Fame, recognizing his incredible 34-year career leading the Titans.
Coach Hasenstein, or “Hass” as he’s affectionately known, led both the boys’ cross country and track & field programs from 1990 through his retirement in June 2024. Under his leadership, Glenbrook South captured two Sectional Championships, earned back-to-back fifth-place finishes at the IHSA State Meet in 2021 and 2022, and produced 34 State Meet medals, including four individual state champions.
Beyond competition, Coach Hass helped build a thriving running community at GBS. The Titans regularly hosted indoor and outdoor invitationals, duals, and the IHSA Sectional Meet, all known for their organization and positive spirit. As the late coach Al Carius once said, “What stands out well above these achievements has been the profound positive [effect] Kurt has had on countless young lives throughout his tenure.”
Congratulations, Coach Hasenstein — and thank you for everything you’ve done for Titan Distance!
